GaGa's heels can be yours in 2010!!!

The over-the-top, "Bad Romance", GaGa heels are none other that the world renown, Alexander McQueen! These 10-inch(12 at the ankle)hoof heels were previewed in 2009 but were not met with awe and wide-eyes. Instead, these monstrous heels turned the heads of their wearers in a negative way. Models Abbey Lee Kershaw, Natasha Poly, and Sasha Pivovarova banded together and quit the show after some debating over the safety of the colossal stilettos. Kershaw, after having a shoe related injury at Rodarte in September of '08, causing her to have to sit out of select Fall/Winter shows due to a knee injury, and the fiasco where she fainted after being tied into a McQueen corset during the Spring/Summer '09, decided that this was the last straw and quit the show. These mega-shoes have their good press too though.

Stephanie Joanne Angelina Germanotta, formally known as Lady GaGa, featured below, sported the heels as well as other McQueen creations in her video for "Bad Romance" earlier this year.

Another notable wearer of McQueen's creation is style icon, Daphne
Guinness. Pictured to the right is Guinness sporting her pair of
Alexander McQueen's next to François Nars at the launch party for
NARS 15x15.

Now, I've spotted these chic kicks in several colors including the python skin, nude jeweled, gold jeweled, and nude that appear here.

Other colors include this patched reptile skin pair...

This blue cracked leather...

This pearl covered...

This black snake skin...

This tan snake skin...

...this copper bubble and a distressed brass leather(not shown).

As I'm sure that, by now, you're familiar with the price range of Alexander McQueen, these heels will not be showing up in many closets this coming year. This, due, not only to the cost, but also to the discomfort and overall safety hazard of these dare devilishly dangerous kicks.

  1. Matthew!!! First off, I am LOVING these fashion blogs :) I think these shoes, on Lady Gaga, are fabulous. Otherwise, I think they look terrible. I mean, who WANTS their foot to look like that? That shape is not flattering and cannot be easy to navigate. But, I am of the mindset that Gaga can do (for the most part) no wrong.

  2. I tried to give both sides of the story for these heels but I still don't know which side I fall on. Part of me says that these things are the ugliest of all things ugly, but then part of me is in awe as to where the idea for such a creation came from. From an art standpoint, I LOVE them, but from a fashion standpoint-I don't see the practicality of them. The only way I would purchase a pair is if I had a nook in the mansion that needed a conversation starter!

Thanks for the compliment-maybe someday soon, I'll be doing a write up of the designs of Caroline Warner!!! :)
